Cleaning

To ensure that your SUBITO produces only top-quality coffee, we recommend that you clean it regularly with JURA tablets.

• The SUBITO does not have an automatic cleaning programme, but has to be started "manually". Follow the relevant detailed description in the instruction manual (section 9.7, page 10).
• Please use only JURA cleaning tablets, which are optimised for your SUBITO. If any unsuitable cleaning agent is used, the possibility of damage to the machine and/or of residue remaining in the water cannot be excluded.

Cleaning the brewing unit seal

If the protective cover is difficult to turn, we recommend that you clean the brewing unit seal.

• Tip: remove the brewing sieve and the brewing unit seal and clean these parts with hot water and washing-up liquid.
• Note: if the brewing unit seal is incorrectly inserted after cleaning, no more coffee can be dispensed.

Cleaning the protective cover

We recommend that the protective cover is removed and cleaned two or three times per week.

• Note: to remove the cover, rotate it to the "Cleaning position"(Figure 8 in the instruction manual for use). The cover is also reinserted in this position (Fig. 12 in the instruction manual for use).

De-scaling

The frequency with which the de-scaling programme needs to be run depends on the water hardness and the amount of coffee dispensed. We recommend starting the programme when the flow of coffee reduces and/or the coffee temperature falls.

• The SUBITO does not have an automatic de-scaling programme, but has to be de-scaled "manually". Follow the relevant detailed description in the instructions for use (section 10.1, page 13).
• Please use only JURA de-scaling tablets, which are optimised for your SUBITO. If any unsuitable de-scaling agent is used, the possibility of damage to the machine and/or of residue remaining in the water cannot be excluded.
• Tip: before starting the de-scaling programme, switch off the machine and leave it to cool down for 1h. Then run the de-scaling programme in accordance with the instructions for use.

Coffee temperature

If the coffee is not hot enough for your taste, you can de-scale the machine. If after you have de-scaled the machine the temperature is still not satisfactory, we recommend that you have the machine checked.

• Tip: always preheat cups

Milk foam

If the milk does not go frothy, the frother is blocked. Remove the frother and clean it thoroughly.

• Please note that the frother must always be cleaned thoroughly after a drink has been dispensed (with froth).
• Note: the fat content of the milk has no effect on the froth. Even skimmed milk can be used.
• Tip: if you are not using a CLARIS filter, the de-scaling programme can be run, as lime deposits can impede the drawing off of steam.

Coffee runs into the coffee grounds container

If coffee runs into the coffee grounds container, the brewing unit seal is faulty or has been incorrectly installed.

• Tip: The brewing unit seal is installed with the opening towards the top.

Cleaning the Frother

For optimal enjoyment of Cappuccino and other drinks, the frother must be kept clean of traces of milk. Information on how to clean your frother is provided here.

Water flow

If the coffee only flows into your cup drop-by-drop, this may be due to the following reasons:

• The coffee powder used is ground too fine. Use a more coarsely ground type of coffee powder.
• The brewing sieve is blocked. Remove the SUBITO protective cover and clean the brewing sieve and the brewing unit seal.
• The machine must be descaled. Follow the instructions in the Instruction manual (under Point 10.1 on Page 13).

JURA SUBITO no longer draws water

If your SUBITO no longer draws water, this may be due to the following possible reasons:

• You are using a CLARIS plus filter cartridge which is now exhausted. Replace the filter cartridge with a new one.
• If you are not using a CLARIS plus filter cartridge, or the machine still does not draw water even after replacing the filter cartridge, we recommend that you have the machine checked.
