    Integrated cleaning programme

    The cleaning programme of your IMPRESSA S9 One Touch can be started at any time in two ways:

    • With a display prompt:

    When COFFEE READY / CLEAN MACHINE is displayed, briefly press the maintenance button. DURATION 20 MIN. / START YES appears on the display. Follow the instructions on the display.

    • Without display prompt:

    When COFFEE READY is displayed, open the cover on the left-hand side and press the Rotary Switch until MAINTENANCE appears. Press the Rotary Switch to enter the programme item. Now turn the Rotary Switch until CLEAN MACHINE is displayed. Press the Rotary Switch again. DURATION 20 MIN. / START YES appears on the display. Follow the instructions on the display.

    • Note: Your IMPRESSA S9 One Touch will display COFFEE READY again if no other programme item is selected in the maintenance menu within about 5 seconds.
    • Tip: After the cleaning process, remove the filler funnel for pre-ground coffee and clean it.

    Integrated descaling programme

    Do not switch off your IMPRESSA S9 One Touch to start the descaling programme.

    The descaling programme of your IMPRESSA S9 One Touch can be started at any time in two ways:

    • With a display prompt:

    When COFFEE READY / DECALCIFY MACHINE is displayed, briefly press the maintenance button. DURATION 45 MIN. / START YES appears on the display. Follow the instructions on the display.

    • Without display prompt:

    When COFFEE READY is displayed, open the cover on the left-hand side and press the Rotary Switch until MAINTENANCE appears. Press the Rotary Switch to enter the programme item. Now turn the Rotary Switch until DECALCIFY MACHINE is displayed. Press the Rotary Switch again. DURATION 45 MIN. / START YES RINSE appears on the display. Follow the instructions on the display.

    • Note: Your IMPRESSA S9 One Touch will display COFFEE READY again if no other programme item is selected in the maintenance menu within about 5 seconds.

    If DECALCS remains displayed for a long time, this means the descaling programme was started with too much liquid or water was replenished before the tank was empty.

    • Tip: Start the descaling programme again with 600 ml water. All the water in the water tank is sucked out during the programme. Please do not replenish water until the display prompts you to do so.

    If DECALCIFY MACHINE is displayed even though the CLARIS filter cartridge is inserted, this means the filter was not activated in programming mode.

    • Tip: Remove the filter and run the descaling programme. Then insert a new filter and activate it in programming mode.

    CLARIS filter change

    The filter change programme of your IMPRESSA S9 One Touch can be started at any time in two ways:

    • With a display prompt:

    When COFFEE READY / CHANGE FILTER is displayed, briefly press the maintenance button. DURATION 2 MIN. / START YES appears on the display. Press the maintenance button. Follow the instructions on the display.

    • Without display prompt:

    When COFFEE READY is displayed, open the cover on the left-hand side and press the Rotary Switch until MAINTENANCE appears. Press the Rotary Switch to enter the programme item. Turn the Rotary Switch until CHANGE FILTER is displayed. Press the Rotary Switch again. DURATION 2 MIN. / START YES appears on the display. Follow the instructions on the display.

    • Note: Your IMPRESSA S9 One Touch will display COFFEE READY again if no other programme item is selected in the maintenance menu within about 5 seconds.
    • Note: The water may be slightly discoloured (this is not harmful to health).
    • Tip: The CLARIS filter cartridge should be replaced every two months if you do not prepare many beverages, even if no message appears on the display.

    Cleaning the Easy Cappuccino frother / fine foam frother

    If the Easy Cappuccino frother / fine foam frother is to fulfil your coffee dreams, it needs to be cleaned regularly.

    • Tip: rinse the frother with fresh water after use. To do this, dip the hose in a container of water and draw off steam until only clean water flows.
    • Note: the Easy Cappuccino frother / fine foam frother can be completely disassembled for the purposes of giving it a thorough clean.
    • Tip: to ensure that all traces of milk are removed, we recommend using the Auto Cappuccino Cleaner from time to time.

    Cleaning the Professional Cappuccino Frother / Professional fine foam frother

    If the Professional Cappuccino Frother / Professional fine foam frother is to fulfil your coffee dreams, it needs to be cleaned regularly.

    • Tip: rinse the frother with fresh water after use. To do this, dip the hose in a container of water and draw off steam until only clean water flows.
    • To ensure that all traces of milk are removed, we recommend using the Auto Cappuccino Cleaner regularly.
    • The Professional Cappuccino Frother can be completely disassembled for the purposes of giving it a thorough clean.

    Coffee taste and coffee temperature

    Coffee taste:
    Are you dissatisfied with the coffee taste? A poor coffee taste may be due to the following possible causes:

    • The amount of powder (coffee strength) is not set according to your taste. Please note that the amount of powder can be programmed individually for each coffee product you prepare.
    • The descaling programme was performed with the CLARIS filter cartridge inserted. In this case, remove the filter, insert a new one and programme the machine as appropriate.
    • Your coffee beans are "sour". Empty the bean container and fill it with fresh beans.

    Coffee temperature:
    Is your coffee not hot enough? A coffee temperature that is too low is frequently due to the following causes:

    • The coffee temperature has not been programmed to HIGH. Please note that the temperature can be programmed individually for each coffee product you prepare.
    • If you are not using a CLARIS filter cartridge, your machine might have built up limescale deposits. Check the water hardness, programme the machine accordingly, and perform descaling.
    • Tip: Pre-heat your cup!

    Milk foam

    If the milk is not frothed, this means the Professional Cappuccino Frother / Professional fine foam frother is blocked. Remove the frother and clean it thoroughly.

    • Please note that the frother always has to be cleaned well after preparing (frothing) milk.
    • Tip: Use the special JURA Cappuccino Cleaner for cleaning.
    • Note: The fat content of milk does not influence frothing. It is also possible to use low-fat milk.
    • Tip: If you do not use a CLARIS filter cartridge, you can run the descaling programme. Calcium deposits can also impair steam preparation.

    Display and text messages

    DECALCIFY MACHINE is displayed despite the CLARIS filter cartridge being used.

    • The CLARIS filter cartridge was inserted but not activated in programming mode.
    • Tip: Remove the filter from the water tank and run the descaling programme. Then insert a new filter and programme the machine as appropriate.

    DECALCS is displayed for a long time.

    • The descaling programme was started with too much liquid or fresh water was replenished too soon. All the water in the water tank must be sucked out during the descaling programme.
    • Tip: Perform the descaling programme again with 600 ml water.

    FILL SYSTEM / PRESS RINSE are displayed alternately.

    • There is no water in the system (e.g. after a repair), or the water tank and/or the CLARIS filter cartridge were not correctly inserted.
    • Tip: Insert the water tank without a CLARIS filter cartridge and press the Steam button, then reinsert the CLARIS filter.

    COFFEE READY is displayed but the coffee does not taste good.

    • The descaling programme has been run with a CLARIS filter cartridge inserted without the machine being programmed for using the filter.
    • Tip: Remove the used filter, insert a new one and programme the machine.

    Everyday care

    To ensure that your IMPRESSA or ENA produces top-quality coffee and functions correctly, the machine should be cleaned and maintained on a daily basis. You should proceed as follows:

    • Empty coffee grounds container and drip tray every day and rinse with hot water.
    • Clean and de-scale the machine or change the CLARIS plus filter cartridge when instructed to do so in the display.
    • Wipe the machine surface with a damp cloth or wipe the coloured front panels with the JURA caring cloth.

    Caramelised coffee beans

    To ensure that your machine provides satisfaction for a long time and to avoid repairs, please note that the grinder on your JURA coffee machine is not suitable for coffee beans that have been treated with additives (e. g. sugar) during or after roasting.

    Use of such coffee mixtures can result in damage to the grinder. Any repair costs incurred as a result are not covered by the warranty provisions.
